Supercool Effect in a Minute or Less!
This is a really quick way to make a grid with a layer style,
which means you can edit the grid at any time, should you wish to make changes,
and it wont effect the layer it's on.
1. Open up your current image, heres mine taken from the
dream scene tutorial.

2. Open a new image 10 x 10 pixels, zoom right in and select the first row
and column, and then fill it with black, or another desired colour. like
this.

3. Now select all of the new image and goto Edit > Define
Pattern. Go back to the image you want to apply the grid too.
4. Goto Layer > Layer style > Pattern overlay. Find
your recently saved pattern at the bottom of this list and change the scale
and opacity options so it looks right on your image. You can see my settings
in the image below.

You should end up with something like this:

The good thing is you can hide the pattern overlay, or edit
it and change it to suit your needs, and you haven't edited the actual layer,
or changed it in any way.
Using this technique it's possible to create a multitude
of pattern overlays by defining different patterns.
