How to use change your icons your Mac OS X
Hi! Are you a newbie when it comes to downloading
icons and using them on your desktop? Well struggle no more! Here
are quick step by step instructions about how to change
your icons on your mac.
- Once you download the set you want to use, your computer will unstuff
or unzip it. (You must have stuffit
expander for this to happen- It is built into OS X but is free if you
don't have it).
- To apply the icon that you like to a file, folder, or application, simply
click on the icon you would like to use (do not double-click. Select 'Get
Info' from the File menu at the top of your desktop (or press command-i).
- A information window will open. Click on the icon that appears in this
window (in the upper left corner) and select 'Copy' from the Edit menu (or
press command-c).
- Next, select the file, folder, or application icon you would like to change.
Select 'Get Info' from the File menu at the top of your desktop (or press
command-i).
- Click on the icon displayed within this window and chose 'Paste' from the
Edit menu (or press command-v). The icon should now be updated and you can
close the window.
This should work for any Finder object for which you have permission to change.
Finder issues: Sometimes you will copy and
paste, but the icon doesn't change. If this happens, simply go to your apple
menu at the top of your desktop and select "force quit." A list will
pop up and select the Finder. Then click on the "relaunch" button.
That should solve your problem.
